My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

FEBRUARY FIELD TRIP:

The February field trip to the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita is scheduled for Friday, February 20. Let Kelli (294-5446) know by Monday if you plan to attend and have not already notified her so she can finalize details. We will plan to take a guided tour focusing on ancient civilizations with a walk-through of the entire museum. After our two- hour tour, we are free to explore the museum on our own for the rest of the day. Cost is $6.00/student, $7.00/adult, and children under four are free.

Plan to be there by 10:00 a.m. to use restrooms, store lunches and coats, and pay. After our tour, we will use their banquet room on the third floor for our sack lunches. There is an activity center for young children on that floor as well.

See www.worldtreasures.org for more info and directions.

GRADUATION PLANNING MEETING:

It’s time to begin thinking about graduation again. Our first planning meeting will be held February 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Simpsons.

KEEPERS:

Keepers will meet Thursday, February 19, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. We will be sewing pillows for our bedrooms. We will use Simplicity pattern #5685. You can see it online on the Simplicity site. You will need to decide which pillow you wish to do. We have one pattern and you are welcome to share or you may purchase your own. You will need to get all the supplies for the pillow you choose. If you need help with this, please call Caiti. You will also need to bring your sewing machines, matching thread, and any lace or decorations you want on your pillow. We ask that all moms be in attendance and that you please have your own machine up and running. Please bring a snack to share. Wal-Mart is closing out all of their material and craft department so they may still have the pattern.

GRANT COUNTY WIND FARM TOUR:

Mark your calendars for April 2, 2009, when we will travel to Grant County and tour the wind farm located near Montezuma, KS. The tour is tentatively scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and will take approximately 1.5 – 2 hours to complete. The tour will begin in the shop, then proceed outside to an up-close look at a turbine. Lindsey Hunt will be our host, and he encourages that participants dress for going out in the field, i.e., jeans, jacket, walking shoes. Pack along a sack lunch.

Then we will continue the day with a tour of the Stauth World Exhibition Museum also in Montezuma. In addition to the many artifacts collected by the Stauths from around the world, there will also be a special exhibit on kites.

Also scheduled is a stop by the Round Barn located south of Mullinville on our way home — provided everyone isn’t too tired by then! This historical barn is an architectural wonder. No tour guide is available, but the barn houses exhibits which tell the story. If you have questions, call Lois Lenkner (620-886-9868) or email rwlfarms at sctelcom dot net. There is no cost to visit any of these sites. Allow approximately 2.5 hours travel time.

SUMMER MISSION TRIP:

Rebekah Bell is going on a mission trip to Egypt this summer with a group of 10 other students from Sterling College. They will be going to Cairo, Egypt, from May 3-18 to serve with a medical missionary. The team will be working with the missionary at his clinic, helping with a children’s ministry, and participating in street evangelism. They will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Muslim culture by visiting a mosque and talking to Muslims about what they believe. The group will also visit the Pyramids and Great Sphinx. Rebekah is very excited about the opportunity to go on the trip and would appreciate your prayers as she and her team prepare. The cost of the trip is $2,750. If anyone is interested in helping financially, please make checks payable to “Global Infusion” and put “Rebekah Bell-Egypt” in the memo line. Her address is: Box 48, 125 W. Cooper, Sterling, KS 67579.
